Narration Conducive To Books Hersenschimmen

[...] Ze houdt me in de gaten.' Meer nog dan een verhaal over dementie is Hersenschimmen een liefdesgeschiedenis, met een overmijdelijk tragisch einde.

Piece Of Books Hersenschimmen
During the past few days Ive read Bernlefs Hersenschimmen, which describes the process of dementia from the early stages onwards. One of the most interesting things in the novel is the point of view the author uses, as the narrator himself is the dementia patient. The novel is very well written and tries to provide an insight into the mental changes of a dementia patient and the problems this causes for both the patient and the partner. Definitely worth reading!Hersenschimmen has been translated

This is a sad story... But this story will be amazing for those who can live it, not just read it. Amazing, but sad. We can never live more then one life, but we can always try to understand what others live. I think this book is trying to open our eyes to the fact that we live in the past, we are nothing without our past and we are afraid to look ahead. But what happens when you don't remember anything about your past?

very good, very sad, i cried

Very beautiful, very touching.

i am so impressed and shocked

Reread! This book is BEAUTIFUL. This is one of the few books that left a deep and immense impression on me. Bernlef is a great writer. The way he wrote this book makes you live through the dementia of the main character as if you yourself are going through it. It's beautifully written and extremely sad. If you ever wanted a peek inside a dementia patients head, this is the book for you. This book just gave me all the feels. It just makes you want to help the main character, but there is

Gripping 'look behind the scenes' of a man losing his memories, his logic and his identity due to dementia. Bernlef has been able to express the different phases, the quick descent into the snow white fields of dementia through his words. Amazing, definitely a recommended read!
