Rendition In Pursuance Of Books The Naked Storyteller
Harry Tyke is a miserable, unkempt teacher on the verge of a monumental mid-life crisis when he ends up in a storytelling workshop taught by a creative, free-thinking storyteller named Olga. The workshop awakens Harry’s romantic side and hurls him into stories from his past, including his decision to give up on his dream of becoming a novelist, a regret he can no longer live with as he sags into his fifties.Harry says:“My roll of blubber––which was straining at the one-size-too-small shirt I had put on that morning––threatened to flop onto his desk like a fat fist.” From images like this one, to the shenanigans of Harry’s unruly sixth-graders and his skirmishes with parents and the school principal, the clever and well-timed moments of humour and lightheartedness in this story will have you rooting for this unlikely leading man from start to finish.
With her second novel, Laura Michelle Thomas has proven she is more than just a mentor to future generations of young writers. She is also a diligent novelist who devotes herself to artfully fusing subject, form and audience expectations into a seamless, page-turning experience.

The Naked Storyteller made me laugh a lot and think even more. Laura Thomas writing style is thrillingly unique. And this is coming from someone whos read a novel a week since third grade. Teacher Harry Tyke, the main character, is despondent and fat and quite unmotivated. But then he meets a remarkable woman who might just be the inspiration he needs to change his life. Obstacles pile unrelentingly in his way, each one setting my heart pounding. Harry Tykes failures and victories felt like myHarry Tyke, a flabby, divorced grade-six teacher on the verge of a monumental mid-life crisis, and Olga, the creative, free-thinking teacher-turned-storyteller, star in this amazing romantic comedy centred in Vancouver, Canada. As someone who was raised near this amazing city, I was excited to read this novel even before I bought it,and my previous knowledge of Laura Thomas' work had be even more anxious to get my hands on a copy. Her last book, Polly Wants To Be a Writer, was aimed at inspiring
If Im honest, if Id first seen this book on the shelf at my local library, I may not have given it a second glance. But after hearing so much about the book, Im glad I took the opportunity given to me to review it. This is a brilliant novel, one that I will definitely read again.Thomas has a gift for creating relatable characters and the protagonist of The Naked Storyteller, Harry Tyke, is no exception. At 52, hes 31 years my senior but many of his thoughts and frustrations are ones that Ive had

Essential reading for anyone who cares about teaching, storytelling or both. Funny, great characters and very entertaining from chapter to chapter. Most excellent!
I received the book from the touring host for an honest review. The cover and the title of the book is misleading and once you start to read the story you realize that this is not the normal love story or erotic story...since the name can apply that. The story is in direct contrast with all of the above with a unique look at Harry Tyke's life; a middle age teacher with a lot of anger towards his mother and his choices in life that affected him for thirty years. The book grabs your attention from
I received this book from a goodreads giveaway. What a nice surprise! I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but I gave it a chance, and what a nice surprise. Very fun/enjoyable read with a good message.
The Naked Storyteller was the first novel I read on my Kindle. Baring in mind that Ive had it since, ooh, 2011, it needed quite a book to get me reading. Thank God this came along. In a very cliché manner, right from page 1 I was hooked. The protagonist, grumpy, overweight, life-hating Harry Tyke, lovingly nicknamed Beast by his students, isnt perhaps the most obvious candidate for this role. In fact, hes the least obvious. But Harry has one thing that means he is suited: his character wants to
