Explanation Concering Books This Side of Heaven (Cody Gunner #3)

Annie Warren always wanted the best for her son, Josh. But years of failure and bad choices created a heartbreaking distance that has grown far worse since the day Josh was hit by a drunk driver. Now on medical disability, Josh has put his life on hold for years, waiting for the insurance company to send a settlement that never seems to come. Worse, he believes the story of a scheming woman who claims they have a seven-year-old daughter named Savannah.
Despite the unlikelihood and complete lack of evidence, Josh dreams of being a father and is determined to one day claim the child. His family doesn't know the full story. They don't know what happened the night of the accident that was worth the chronic pain Josh suffers every waking minute, or that he is turning his life around. They haven't seen that Savannah's eyes are his, and they don't know how desperately the little girl needs her family.
When the settlement that rightly belongs to Josh is threatened, Annie sets out to defend her son. But she might find a treasure more valuable than money, one she never expected, one that is the greatest gift her son could ever give her--THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN.

Nothing had worked out as Josh Warren had planned. After high school, his girlfriend Becky had broken up with him, he quit school and became a tow truck driver. He had a dream of opening his own tow truck business.A year after a wild week in Vegas he discovers he is the father of a little girl, Savannah. Her mom wants child support, but Josh does not have the amount that she wants, so she stops contacting him and he is left to wonder about his child. Soon after that, an accident at work leaves

I wasn't sure how I'd review this book until I read the author's note at the end and grasped where it had come from. I suspect that some of the negative reviews are by people who bypassed that.An incredible story, but sometimes - maybe often - the truth is stranger than fiction, and more unexpected, shocking, heartwarming, edifying, satisfying, or destructive, depending on how we respond to the events in our lives. Also, God is in the miracle business and how He adores the unloved mistreated

I was surprised to see this book listed as a series featuring Cody Gunner because Cody is only a minor character in this book. The book is mostly about the Warren family. (Cody was a friend of Josh Warren.)Josh Warren was injured while saving two girls from a drunk driver. He's trying to get a settlement to put his life back together--get back surgery, buy a business, contact his one-time girlfriend Becky, find his daughter Savannah. Unfortunately, Josh passes away in his sleep before any of

This ended up with a great ending, I cried throughout a good portion of the book though. Very sad parts. Still loved this highly emotional read. Happy reading/listening!

Kingsbury's brother was the inspiration for this book. It has you questioning your relationship with God while giving you hope that you can come back to Him and He will be there for you. The main character, Josh, goes from having God in his life to shutting Him out and making bad decisions. He becomes a hero saving two girls from being hit by a drunk driver but he gets hit. His injuries cause him so much pain but the pain he feels for never meeting the daughter he finds out about is more. When

This has always been my favorite Karen Kingsbury book and always will be. This time I listened to it as an audiobook, and if anything, listening to it being read made the story come alive even more than the other times that I've read it. I felt the characters loss and pain when they felt it and their happiness as well. One of the realist books I've ever read.

Karen Kingsbury is once again at her finest. This story tells a tale of God's love redeeming a terrible tragedy and the reality that what we do "This Side of Heaven" proclaims who we really are.
