This is a really beautiful story about a little girl called Chelsea and a turkey Tommy. For a childrens book there is a lot of symbolism and metaphor at work here, but those complexities dont detract at all from a readers enjoyment no matter how old they are. I read the whole thing to my little niece, and Im not sure which of us loved it the most.I think you know when youve found a great childrens book, and that is one that you can happily reread and the children want to hear over and over.A Pardon for Tommy begins with Chelsea, who is a college student, having yet another nightmare about something traumatic that happened when she was a child. She decides to go home for Thanksgiving, hoping to face her fears that's cause her nightmares for the past six years. This was a quick read that lacked development. For example, everyone in the story was dark brown-skinned or brown-skinned. There was a lot of telling with very little showing. A few times I found myself trying to figure out
